Frequently asked questions
What is Shiatsu?
Shiatsu is a form of holistic bodywork that originated in Japan.
The term means „finger pressure“ and describes a treatment in which mindful pressure is applied along the energy pathways (meridians), with stretches and gentle rotations.
The aim is to support the body in its self-regulation, to balance out tensions and to enable a state of deep relaxation.
Shiatsu is not a substitute for medical or psychotherapeutic treatment, but can contribute to greater body awareness, inner peace and balance.
How does a Shiatsu session work?
A session usually lasts about 60 minutes.
You lie clothed on a soft mat on the floor. The clothing should be comfortable and allow freedom of movement.
I work with calm, customised pressure, stretches and rotations. Each treatment is individual - there is no fixed programme. I orientate myself to your current condition and your needs.
We usually start with a brief conversation so that we can clarify what is currently on your mind.
What can Shiatsu help with?
People come for different reasons:
Reduce stress
Find inner peace
Consciously recognise and release tension
Strengthen your own body awareness
draw new energy
Give yourself the gift of conscious time
Shiatsu is intended as accompanying bodywork and does not replace medical or therapeutic treatment.
How often is Shiatsu useful?
That is very individual.
Some people come occasionally for relaxation, others opt for regular accompaniment over a certain period of time.
Together we will find a rhythm that works for you - without pressure, without obligation.
Is Shiatsu suitable for everyone?
In principle, Shiatsu is suitable for people of all ages and is always adapted to the respective life situation.
In the case of acute infections, fever or serious health complaints, it is advisable to consult a doctor beforehand.
What should I bring to the meeting?
Comfortable clothing (e.g. jogging trousers, T-shirt, long-sleeved top)
Please do not eat heavy meals directly before the session
Please avoid strong perfume
That's all you need to bring.
Who accompanies you?
I am a trained Shiatsu practitioner with many years of experience in bodywork and self-awareness.
In my work, mindfulness, presence and respectful interaction at eye level are particularly important to me.
You can come just as you are.
